imageFor all of my local readers…have you tried the bacon, cheeseburgers from George Calef’s Fine Food in Barrington, NH? I had them for the first time at my friend Cathy’s. She bought them for us to grill up one night and we all loved them! In fact I loved them so much I had to share them with Jim, Robby and even brought some over to my parents to try.
imageEveryone was in full agreement, these burgers are terrific! I am sure I will be going back next week to pick some more up! image
Not only do they have wonderful burgers they also have a small deli and cheese area along with marinated steak, chicken and ribs!

Calef’s has a great lunch section with pre-made sandwiches and wraps, you can even get their homemade meatballs and pulled pork.

For a very small store they can sure pack in some seriously good food. We have a number of grocery stores and meat markets around, but I have to say I am thoroughly impressed with everything George Calef’s has to offer.

If you find yourself in Barrington, stop by George Calef’s Fine Food at 495 Calef Highway, Rt. 125. I know you will appreciate all they have to offer as much as I do…and don’t forget to try the burgers!

Enjoy!

This is a little bit of a follow up from Sean’s guest post yesterday! When I was at the Portsmouth farmer’s market, I also bought a bottle of Marcia’s Jamaican Jerk Anything Sauce. This sauce is a little less spicy than the jerk sauce Sean used for the chicken wings, but it still has some heat to it!

imageThis is a picture from the farmer’s market of some of the food Marcia smokes and sells while at the market!

I marinated some boneless, skinless chicken breasts in the “anything” sauce for a couple of hours and grilled them over medium heat until cooked through.  Served them over a salad of mixed greens, chopped pecans, crumbled cheese and dried cranberries. You might be wondering where that salad picture is?! Well..I cooked the chicken the night before I made the salad and packed Jim and I the salad for lunch and well…while at work, I remembered that  I TOTALLY FORGOT to take the finished picture! Well, it happens, but you get the idea! I also drizzled a little bit of the “anything” sauce over the greens as a dressing but be cautious and use it sparingly so you don’t over power the entire salad!

The posts this week are all about farmer’s markets! A couple of weeks ago
my friend Rosalie went to a farmer’s market in Northern NH and brought me home a fantastic product that she has used many times and really enjoys! She bought me some Chipolte Cream Sauce from a company called Vermont Signature Sauces.  They have a number of products and sauces and after tasting the cream sauce I am looking forward to trying more!

Rosalie and I also went to the Portsmouth NH farmer’s market. It is one of my favorite farmer’s markets.  They have a number ofimage farms and vendors, along with live music and plenty of food to sample along the way.  Not to mention a beautiful view! With spring in full motion and summer just around the corner, help support your local farmer and find a local farmer’s market near you ! In my area alone we have 6-7 in the  immediate area. (Dover, Durham, Portsmouth, Somersworth, Milton and Rollinsford to just name a few.

On to the Vermont Signature Sauce review of the Chipotle Cream Sauce. I simply sliced up three boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite size pieces and browned them up in a large saucepan and cooked the chicken through.  I then added the cream sauce and warmed everything through and served over jasmine rice! This made dinner so simple and the sauce was delicious. The sauce was creamy and a little smokey. I served this with a small side salad and dinner was on the table in about 20 minutes!
Vermont Signature Sauces also known as La Maison Gourmet Gravies has eight sauces currently to choose from.  They have Burgundy Peppercorn, Chipotle Cream, Coconut Red Curry, Marsala with Mushrooms, Pomegranate with Saffron, Savory Orange and Sherried mushrooms. I think I will be trying the Coconut Red Curry sauce next!!

If you want to try these delectable sauces they can be found at various markets and store as well as on line at www.vermontsignaturesauces.com

Tomorrow, I have a special guest post.  So stay tuned for another farmer’s market find and another product review!

Enjoy!

Have you seen these Yancey’s Fancy New York Artisan Cheeses products in your grocery store? I have been buying them for awhile now and really have enjoyed them. They are a great addition to any cheese platter. Although they have several varieties I am sharing the “Buffalo Wing” cheese with you today! This is one of Robby’s favorite cheese’s, although we all like this cheese simply with crackers,  Robby loves this cheese diced up and put on nacho’s! I think this would be a great addition to any recipe you want to add some spice to! This has been a favorite at our house and if you like buffalo wing flavor, you will love this cheese as much as Robby.

Enjoy!

This weekend was our local Apple Harvest day. The day is filled full of events for kids, adults and family activities.  I was originally going to write a post about all the various activities and everything offered at this event, but I can’t get past the amazing products that I tasted at a tent set up by Warrick Dowsett, who is a Australian born luxury yacht chef who has traveled the world! He is taking all of his creativity and travel experience and bottling it in the most amazing condiments I have ever tasted! All of the products are 100 % handmade in Vermont! I had a wonderful conversation with him about his products and he was telling me that he was just at a national convention where his Triple Ale Onion just received the highest award available! Needless to say I bought 4 jars!
Wozz carries relish, chutney’s, fruit salsa, sauces and spreads, dressings, glazes and finishing vinegars! I had a tough time deciding as everything looked and tasted amazing.
Wozz has a website:  www.wozzkitchencreations.com  and can also be found on Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest.  He has a number of recipes on his site as well! Check him out… I promise you will love his creations. They are truly as good as they look and sound! I look forward to placing more orders with Wozz!!

Thanks Wozz!
