I am NOT a baker, but I came across this recipe from the Best Blog Recipes and thought it was interesting. I liked so much of what it had… chocolate , more chocolate, peanut butter and crunch! That is enough for me! I made this recipe and had great results. Everyone enjoyed them!
Your favorite box brownie mix ( I used Ghirardelli double chocolate mix)
2 cups Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted cereal
1 cup smooth peanut butter (I may try the chunky)
1 cup milk chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 casserole dish with baking spray . Mix ingredients for the brownie mix and pour into casserole dish. The mixture should be on the thin side. Spread as evenly as possible. Bake for 20-25 minutes testing with a toothpick. Let brownies cool.
Add chocolate chips and peanut butter to a microwave safe bowl. microwave 30 seconds and stir. Microwave 15 more seconds and stir again and continue until mixture is smooth. Add cereal to the chocolate mixture evenly coating the cereal.
Spread mixture onto brownies and cool brownies in the refrigerator for at least one hour before cutting.
We all enjoyed the brownies, but I think I would have liked to have tasted more of the peanut butter so maybe reduce the chocolate chips and add more peanut butter. I also think this would be great with Rice Krispies … a recipe for another day!
